Investigating STE and Transport Pathways Near Midlatitude Cyclones Using START-08 and the UWNMS
Room 811 AOSS, April 19, 2017, 2:30 PM
The NSF/NCAR Gulfstream V High-performance Instrumented Airborne Platform for Environmental Research (HIAPER) aircraft sampled the upper troposphere and lower stratosphere (UTLS) over North America from April - June 2008 in the Stratosphere-Troposphere Analyses of Regional Transport (START-08) campaign. Data from the flight campaign was compared to numerical data from the University of Wisconsin Non-Hydrostatic Model (UWNMS). By comparing flight data to model data over time we can study wind, temperature, potential vorticity, and atmospheric constituents.
