Simulating the Change and Variability of Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation: Past, Present and Future

Room 811 AOSS, March 8, 2017, 2:30 PM

Abstract

Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC) has been recognized as an important component of the climate system. Here, I will summarize several studies of my group in the past few years on AMOC changes and variability in the past and future. I will discuss three issues: 1) how does AMOC respond to deglacial climate forcing? 2) Is AMOC unstable in the past and future? 3) How does AMOC interdecadal variability change in the future in response to global warming?
